The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has announced that it has awarded $1,155,638 to 捆绑SM社区 to support nine research projects in areas such as vascular disease, cancer, dementia, amblyopia and inflammatory lung disease, to name only a few. "We can say with conviction that Canada has become a place where world-class researchers want to be," said Dr. Eliot Phillipson, President and CEO of the CFI . "This CFI investment will further develop 捆绑SM社区's global reputation as a place where

outstanding research and training is being conducted."

Dr. Richard Levin, 捆绑SM社区's Vice-Principal (Health Affairs) and Dean of Medicine welcomed the CFI 's investment: "These investments create incredible momentum in our efforts to break new ground and find cures for devastating illnesses, like cancer, vascular disease and dementia." he said. "Not only does CFI 's support help attract the best scientific minds to our labs, it ensures these researchers are equipped with the technology and tools of today, which translates into better results and care for our patients."

The CFI announced a total of $45,521,500 million in new funds to support 251 projects at 44 institutions across Canada . The investment was approved by the CFI's Board of Directors following a rigorous merit review process. A total of $38,234,190 was awarded under the Leaders Opportunity Fund. This program is designed to provide infrastructure to Canadian institutions so to attract researchers at a time of intense international competition for knowledge workers, as well as to retain the very best of today and tomorrow's leading researchers. The remaining $ 7,287,310 million was awarded under the Infrastructure Operating Fund, an accompanying program which assists research institutions with the incremental operating and maintenance costs associated with new infrastructure projects.
