Brent Proseus, trumpet, winner of the À¦°óSMÉçÇø Concerto Competiton.

Brent Proseus, a student of Professor Richard Stoelzel, Brass Area Chair, has been namedÌýwinner of the 2016 Schulich School of Music Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion competition. ÌýBrent’s firstÌýtrumpet teacher was his father, Eric and heÌýÌýcontinued hisÌýstudies with Gregg Good. Brent was principal trumpet inÌýthe Michigan Junior High All-State Band and he was principal trumpet in the Michigan All-state Orchestra as well as the lead trumpet in the Michigan All-State Jazz Band. He won a featured soloist award at the Michigan Youth Arts All-State Competition and performend with that orchestra at theirÌýgala concert. ÌýBesides classical trumpet honors, Brent has also won many awards in jazz, including the Hastings Jazz Festival soloist award and the Western Michigan University Jazz Festival lead trumpet and soloist awards. ÌýHe will perform next season with the À¦°óSMÉçÇø Symphony Orchestra. Ìý
