Accolades for À¦°óSMÉçÇø Brass at the International Trumpet Guild Convention
The À¦°óSMÉçÇø Trumpet Ensemble and professor Richard Stoelzel, Brass Area Chair,Ìýrecently participated inÌýthe in Anaheim, California. ÌýTheir prelude concert collegiateÌýperformance received astanding ovation. "In my over 20 years going to these conferences, I have never witnessed a prelude concert collegiate trumpet ensemble receive a standing ovation," said Prof. Stoelzel. ÌýÀ¦°óSMÉçÇø trumpet students won more awards than any other school in attendanceÌýand were also the most represented school at the conference.ÌýÌýFour of hisÌýstudentsÌýMelina Catalano, John Drinkwater, Brent Proseus andÌýMatthew WolfeÌýwonÌýscholarships to the conference. ÌýAdditionally,ÌýÌýfirst-year trumpet student Brent Proseus, competing against much more experienced students,Ìýwas declared the winner of the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition and a cash prize of $1500. AsÌýpreparation for their California performance, the À¦°óSMÉçÇø Trumpet Ensemble performed for three high schools in the Montreal region.
