Pierre-Gabriel Jobin awarded CBA’s Crépeau Medal
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA-Quebec) has awarded its Paul-André-Crépeau Medal to Wainwright Professor Emeritus of Civil Law Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, Ad E. The medal was presented to him by Jonathan Pierre-Étienne, president of the CBA-Quebec, on 5 December, after an introduction by Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E.
The Institute was featured in an article in the latest edition of the Entracte magazine by the Chambre des notaires
As part of the fruitful partnership between the Crépeau Centre and the Chambre des notaires, an article on the Institute of Jurilinguistics was featured in the Winter 2025 edition ofÌýEntracteÌýmagazine (V. 33, N. 4).
The article, written by one of the researchers from the Centre, Tiphaine Dourges, explores the topic of jurilinguistics, introduces the organizing centers, and traces the history of this event, which has been running for 18 years.
New co-director joins Crépeau Centre leadership
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Michelle Cumyn will join the leadership team of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. She will team up with current director Professor Mark Antaki, BCL’96, LLB’96, who has been at the helm of the renowned centre since 2020. They will serve as co-directors until 2026.
Dean Robert Leckey receives CBA Hero Award
We are delighted to announce that the Sexual and Gender Diversity Alliance Section (SAGDA) of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) recognized Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E, with its Hero Award on 16 July 2024.
This prestigious award recognizes excellence within the Canadian legal profession in advancing the cause of equality for LGBTQ2+ people.
November 1st, 2023: A great day for Mrs. Manon Berthiaume
The first of November of 2023 officially marked the last day at the Center Crépeau for our very dear and precious Manon Berthiaume as the senior administrative coordinator. The first day of November not only permanently marked the history of the Center but also the relationships of deep and sincere friendship that this great woman, Manon Berthiaume, has always been and continues to be.

On the occasion of our fall 2023 publication of the volume Successions of the Private Law Dictionary and Bilingual Lexicons series, the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law – in partnership with Éducaloi and Me Étienne Cossette-Lefebvre (Canada Graduate Scholar in Honour of Nelson Mandela and Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation grantee) – has created a series of videos with the goal of improving access to basic knowledge about succession (estate) law in Quebec.ÌýÌý

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Branch (CBA-Quebec), has awarded the Paul-André-Crépeau Medal for 2021 to Professor Fabien Gélinas, Ad E.
