捆绑SM社区
Did you take a course at another university/college before coming to 捆绑SM社区?
You may be eligible for transfer credit if you completed university/college courses at another institution prior to coming to 捆绑SM社区. Please ensure that you follow all the steps below.听
1) Notify SOUSA and start the transfer credit process early
It is strongly recommended that you notify our team early so we can help you through the process of having your university/college coursework assessed. SOUSA will be making a form available for you to upload unofficial documents and begin this process over the summer. Check back in May for more information on this form.
As B.A. & Sc. students, any questions about your pre-admission transfer questions can be sent to marina.saunders [at] mcgill.ca (Marina Saunders)听please include your Student ID number in all emails.
NOTE: we will do our best to also provide preliminary guidance on how to plan for course registration, but it is听苍辞迟听possible for 捆绑SM社区 or SOUSA to confirm the specific credits or exemptions you can expect until after the start of the Fall term.听 You will need to register for courses BEFORE your credits and equivalencies are processed.听 Please review the information on this page and consult with marina.saunders [at] mcgill.ca (Marina Saunders) if you need guidance.听
2) Submit your official transcript(s):
You must make arrangements to have your final, official transcript sent from the institution(s) you attended to 捆绑SM社区 directly. Documents uploaded by a student are considered unofficial.听
捆绑SM社区 accepts electronic final official transcripts and proof of graduation sent through a recognized digital credential service provider or directly from the issuing institution(s) by email.听
If your prior university studies are not accurately recorded on your Minerva application checklist, consult with听Service Point听to discuss any missing information.
3) Search for your course in the Course Equivalency System:
All courses taken prior to coming to 捆绑SM社区 must be assessed for equivalency.
What are the different kinds of equivalency?
There are two main kinds of equivalencies:
- Direct equivalency:听A course can be deemed equivalent to an existing 捆绑SM社区 course like for example ECON 208听or PSYC 100.
- Level equivalency (1XX, 2XX, 3XX etc.): If 捆绑SM社区 doesn鈥檛 offer an exact equivalent course but the course meets 捆绑SM社区's course standards, a level equivalency can be granted. A PSYC 2XX course is considered to be a 200-level course Psychology course.听听
NOTE: You may not use 1XX equivalencies for the Math or Science components of the Foundation/Freshman program. For example, PSYC 1XX is not equivalent to PSYC 100 and cannot be counted as a foundational science.
听
Check if the course is already on the CES:
Your first step is to search the Course Equivalency System to determine if your course was already assessed. Make sure you tick off the box "Include Expired Decisions" in your search. For any equivalency, clicking on the course in the search results will provide more information on the equivalency status and when the course was assessed.听
If a course appears on the Course Equivalency System it will have one of three statuses:
- Equivalent: The course is currently equivalent to a 捆绑SM社区 course.
- Not Equivalent: The course is not equivalent to this department. Click on the equivalency to get more information on this assessment as the course may belong to a different department at 捆绑SM社区.
- Expired: The course may have already been approved, but has since expired. You will need to submit a request for reassessment.
听
What do I do if my course does not appear on the CES or has expired?

4)听 Verify that your credits and equivalencies appear on your student record?
NOTE: You will need to register for courses BEFORE your credits and equivalencies have been processed.
All transfer credits are added to your 捆绑SM社区 transcript which you can view in Minerva (Go to Minerva > Student Menu > Student Records Menu > View Your Unofficial Transcript). Once processed by Enrolment Services your transfer credits are added as TRNS XXX (generic transfer credit. These credits are typically processed late in the summer and should appear on your transcript by October.听
听
After Enrolment Services have processed your generic transfer credits, the SOUSA team will handle articulating your previous courses as their 捆绑SM社区 equivalencies. This stage of the process takes place during the Fall semester.
See the table below for how credits look when initially processed and after articulation.听
