51st Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence
捆绑SM社区 graduates and professors have figured prominently amongst the 14 winners in this year鈥檚 . Architectural firms and students from across Canada received top honours for design proposals that embody qualities of innovation and overall design excellence, as well as social and environmental sustainability.
Consortium Saucier+Perrotte (Course Lecturer Gilles Saucier), / GLCRM Architectes received an Award of Excellence for Biblioth猫que Gabrielle-Roy. Atelier TAG (Manon Asselin [B.Arch. 1992, M.Arch. 2001] and Katsuhiro Yamazaki [B.Arch. 1996], principals) and Architecture49 (James Bridger, B.Arch. 1990, Principal) in consortium received an Award of Merit for Am茅nagement du mus茅e et du d么me de la basilique de l鈥檕ratoire Saint-Joseph du Mount-Royal. Kuehn Malvezzi, Pelletier de Fontenay (Course Lecturer Hubert Pelletier), Jodoin Lamarre Pratte with Atelier le Balto also received an Award of Merit for Insectarium de Montr茅al.
Mark Melnichuk (M.Arch. 2018) received a Student Award of Excellence for Northern Cloud.
Now in their 51st year, these awards are the highest recognition for excellence in the design stage in the Canadian architectural sector. By focusing on commissioned yet unbuilt projects along with exceptional student work, the program recognizes design ambitions and supports an overall culture of design excellence. This year鈥檚 jury comprised Ted Watson, MRAIC, a partner at Toronto-based MJMA, Monica Adair, MRAIC, a co-founder and principal of Saint John, New Brunswick-based Acre Architects, and David Penner, FRAIC, founder and principal of David Penner Architect in Winnipeg. 190 professional and student submissions were received for this year鈥檚 awards program.
